Molly Felice stepped up to lend a hand in preparation for the event and were on hand throughout the evening to handle all volunteer needs.
"It was really nice to be able to represent Montini for what I believe is one of our most important jobs as Catholics, fighting for the unborn," said Henry, who along with Alex Santelli also volunteered at Illinois Right to Life's banquet in March. He was very happy to be able to meet and get a photo with Mr. Arroyo. "(Raymond Arroyo) was very nice and made a point to talk to all of us volunteers before he went onstage to give his speech. I was very glad to be there helping and to hear what he had to say."
Illinois Right to Life is a non-profit organization that educates on the beauty and value of all human life regardless of a person’s size, gender, race, age, or disability. They use a grassroots approach to build a culture of life in Illinois that welcomes and loves all human life from conception through natural death (www.illinoisrighttolife.org).
Montini Catholic, through its Campus Ministry program, presents volunteer opportunities to students throughout the school year. Students are encouraged to volunteer their time and energy within their communities. Service is one aspect of the Montini Catholic experience that they believe sets them apart from other schools. "Our Lasallian mission of education is rooted in the belief that we are servants of God," said Campus Minister Michael Blanchette. Through a four year theology curriculum, a four year retreat program (which includes Kairos Retreats), peer ministry activities, mission trips and an extensive community service program, Montini provides each student with a number of opportunities to grow spiritually and socially and to become difference makers.
Students at Montini Catholic, through service, grow as Christian leaders. They develop respect for themselves and for others, they become more aware of social issues and social injustices, they see the importance of helping others, and they realize that they truly have the ability to “Touch the Hearts” of others. Campus Minister Blanchette sums up his axiom of service, constantly encouraging students to, "go out and do something good for someone, but make sure that it is someone who can’t pay you back. That is the basis of true Christian service."
