Under the leadership of all level team members, and with the assistance of dedicated parents and friends, Montini Catholic's Bronco Volleyball Team held its annual Volley for a Cure event on Thursday, October 5th. Bronco families and friends are committed to continue their tradition of dedicating one game per season to this most worthwhile cause. The gym was full of Bronco fans including local grade schoolers invited to participate with over $2,600 raised!
Team members and their mothers were geared up for the evening and sold baked goods, t-shirts (designed by Bronco senior volleyball standout, Ella Herrmann) and other goodies before and during the games in support of the National Breast Cancer Foundation, founded in 1991 by breast cancer survivor, Janelle Hail. NBCF continues to grow every year to help more and more women around the world by educating them about breast cancer and providing free mammograms to women in need.
"It's a fun event for a very worthy cause and I am immensely grateful for everyone's efforts and the contributions made to make it such a great success," said organizer and Parent Club president, Maria Herrmann. "The donation our Montini Girls Volleyball Program is making will help empower women at every step of the breast cancer journey—from getting a mammogram to life after treatment. Without support like ours, these women may not have access to potentially life-saving services."
Echoing Maria's comment, President Kevin Beirne said, "Thanks and congratulations to Maria and the Bronco Girls Volleyball program on such an awesome effort benefitting such an important cause!"
